Beware of Fraudulent Calls

Scammers are at it again!  Just a reminder to be aware of fraudulent phone calls or emails claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Some phone calls involve aggressive and forceful language to scare taxpayers, i.e. threatening with court charges or jail if a debt owing is not paid.  If you receive a call like this, do not disclose any personal or banking information.

CRA will not send information by email.  Do not click on any links or open any attachments forwarded in email correspondence which appears to be from CRA.  These may contain embedded malicious software that can harm your computer and put your personal information at risk.

For more information or examples, please go to the CRA website:  www.cra.gc.ca/security.
